She is a widely-acclaimed speaker, recognized for powerfully advancing the conversation on a number of humanitarian issues. Her Top 25 book, A Fearless Voice: How a National Scandal Made Me an Advocate for Building a Better America, has been renowned as an honest and heartbreaking look at our unjust institutions and how we can work together as Americans to improve them.

Shawna entered the national spotlight as the founder of a leading media and crisis management company. She has worked for notable figures and brands such as Fortune 100 companies, award-winning celebrities, and campaigns for President, Governor, and Congress.

Shawna has successfully generated awareness and consensus to pass Federal and state legislation. Her passion for mobilizing people to create positive change has a profound impact on the clients that engage Second Line Consulting.

Beth R. Grossfeld has worked over twenty years to build brands for local and national organizations, including one of the leading multi-billion dollar retail chains in the country. Beth has successfully leveraged a hybrid of big company productization and traditional agency creativity to break barriers in the marketing field.

Beth has extensive experience in the technology, finance, and retail space including multiple projects where she partnered with Fortune 500 industry leaders. Beth’s passion for Children’s Rights and Animal Welfare propelled her into activism, lending her talents to notable non-profits and public service projects with public figures including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner.

Beth provides a level of expertise in marketing, social media, and fundraising that uniquely magnifies the influence and impact of Second Line Consulting on the social justice landscape.

Meredith L. Ockman

Meredith L. Ockman

Director of Administration

Meredith L. Ockman has worked on a wide range of campaigns including successfully helping to elect Presidential, Congressional, municipal and judicial candidates. She has also organized and advocated for dozens of legislative issues and non-profit organizations. Meredith focuses on raising awareness and motivating action for causes and candidates to right injustice.

She was a teacher for nine years and was honored as a Teacher of the Year, which inspired her to be a voice for children by working with groups such as Child Welfare Services. She has been a leader for women’s causes and was awarded a Medal of Honor by the Veteran Feminists of America. A champion of human rights and equality, Meredith ensures that all partners, team members, and issues are held to the highest standards on behalf of the communities and citizens that will be impacted.

Ricardo Rangel

Director of Strategic Partnerships

Ricardo Rangel is a highly decorated public servant. He retired as a sergeant from the US Army, served on the Florida House of Representatives and lent his leadership to organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the NAACP.

Ricardo received his Master’s degree in Management. He has successfully managed both local and federal races up and down the east coast and was recognized as “Florida Young Democrat of the Year” by the Florida Young Democrats.

Ricardo develops and maintains key relationships with donors, businesses and policymakers to create winning partnerships that collectively advance the social justice initiatives for Reine Media.

Leo Bridgewater

National Outreach Director

Leo Bridgewater Sr. was an Army Specialist who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan under Lt. General David Patreaus and Admiral Mike Mullens. Leo has also worked for the Dept. of the Army at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. in communications and logistics.

After learning that multiple veteran friends took their own lives in suicide, Leo became an activist for PTSD treatment. Leo’s advocacy has led him to testify in state and federal Senate Committee hearings on the subject of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and he has successfully worked to pass legislation for additional recognition and coverage of medical treatment options.

Recognized in 2019 as a national Activist of the Year, and one of Yahoo’s 65 Outstanding Black and Hispanic Male Leaders, Leo works to bring organizations and individuals to the table for Second Line Consulting social justice projects.

Robert Garrison

Political Strategy Director

Robert Garrison has vast experience in federal, state, county and municipal government, labor relations, public finance, workforce development, political campaigns and campaign finance. He specializes in government relations and issue and grassroots advocacy. Rob has served as a Representative of the National Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust (LECET), Director of the Bergen County Department of Planning and Economic Development and as the Executive Director of the Bergen County Improvement Authority.

Rob is a coalition builder who works to ensure that all of the projects Second Line Consulting tackles are approachable and humanized. His efforts maximize the positive results our projects have in each of the communities we enter.

Dr. April Jackson-James

Dr. April Jackson-James

Outreach Specialist

Dr. April Jackson-James is considered one of America’s leading experts in evidence-based treatment programs in the mental health field. A highly-skilled licensed psychologist, April has served as a Director of Mental Health and curriculum development adviser for a number of national and regional organizations.

April’s expertise is leveraged to ensure that campaign communications and issue-based discussion are both effective and sensitive to triggers and cultural differences.
April holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, and completed her post-graduate work at the University of Miami, School of Medicine.

She has worked with a number of legendary organizations and celebrities including universities, national non-profits, and the National Football League. Her decorated background and calming, holistic approach to integrating mind, body, and spirit are what make the messaging and communication for clients of Second Line Consulting deeply impactful.
